Sportsmedicine and Lameness Diagnosis

At Wellington Equine, we go to great lengths to put the human touch into lameness diagnosis.  Although we have the sophisticated equipment to diagnose lameness, we believe that is not a substitute for a thorough physical examination and diagnostic nerve blocks.  We take a great deal of time with our clients obtaining a medical history and performing physical examinations.  Many lameness exams are performed under saddle as many horses will often have multiple lamenesses.   Besides that, many lamenesses will not manifest themselves unless the horse is ridden.  Once we have localized the lameness using diagnostic nerve or joint blocks, we often use digital radiography and/or digital ultrasound to obtain a diagnosis.
